Questions
How do I convert binary to text?
Split the bits into groups of 8 (one byte each), turn each byte into a number, and look the numbers up in UTF-8. 01001000 01101001 is 72 105, which is "Hi". The tool does all three steps.
Why does one emoji become four bytes?
UTF-8 uses one byte for basic Latin letters, two for most accented and Greek or Cyrillic letters, three for most other scripts and four for emoji.
What is the difference between binary and ASCII?
ASCII is a 7-bit table of 128 characters. UTF-8 is backwards compatible with it: every ASCII character has the same single byte in UTF-8.
